Lunch

Here’s everything you need to know about school lunches, packed lunches and snacks at Thornhill Primary School.

School lunches

Dolce provides hot meals for the children with four daily choices. We are fortunate to have all our meals cooked onsite daily by our Head cook and her team of staff.

Please see the Dolce website for the full menu.

Meals must be ordered in advance via SchoolGrid (this is an app you will need to download to your phone): https://app.schoolgrid.co.uk/login

Full details about the menu options are sent to parents/carers each term and are also available on request from the school office.

All meals must be ordered and paid for in advance. We encourage all parents and carers to pay online.

Packed lunches

If your child prefers to bring a packed lunch, please ensure that it is clearly named. Remember we follow a 'Healthy Packed Lunch Policy'. Glass bottles, fizzy drinks, and sweets are not allowed in school for health and safety reasons. Due to some children having severe allergies we ask that packed lunches do not contain sesame or nuts.

Universal Free School Meals

Currently, all pupils in Year R, Year 1 and Year 2 in state funded schools in England are entitled to a free school meal (UIFSM). All children get free school meals if they are in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. If you apply (which only takes 5 minutes!) we get £1345 per child from the Government to make school life even better.

Free School Meals

If you are unsure if your child is entitled to Free School Meals, you can check eligibility online at https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/southampton/ or by asking at the school office for a paper form. It is important that you complete this form whether or not your child wishes to have hot school meals. Children entitled to 'Free School Meals' will be entitled to pupil premium.  Please see the Pupil premium section for further information.
